Welcome to The 1st Mudeford Guides

We're from Dorset County (That's in England)

There are about 25- 30 of us and we meet once a week, in our Very Own Hut.

We are all between 10 and 15, except for the Guiders obviously and their all over XCENSOREDX. Okay, so we aren't allowed to put down the guiders ages, but they can't be too old, one of them is Our Webmaster. (How's that? One of our Guiders likes to work on the Web, so they aren't all fuddy duddies are they?

There are usually five patrols in the unit.
At the moment they are

The Forget-me -Nots

(who can't remember a thing)

The Red Roses

(They keep blushing)

The Wood peckers

(They like to hit their heads against walls)

The Kingfishers

(so they wanted to go diving, very subtle)

And The Penguins

(That's the senior patrol- trust any one over 15 to name a patrol something daft)

(just kidding- we're wonderful really- ed) ----- who let her in?????
But seriously, they're not as bad as they sound.

Actually, after the summer most of them will be Rangers. So they're going (all say ahhhh) but not that far. They've got a site too. (click on the trefoil at the bottom of this page)

So now you've met us, this is what we do;

During our meetings were partake in myriad of marvellous activities

(Oh look long words..... Okay, I admit it I want a writer badge);

Seriously though, we've done a lot.

Night Hiking was fun
(walking at night can be quite scary, not that I'm a whimp or anything)

Campfire Ready Steady Cook was a challenge we think, was well met

(They don't use open fires on the telly, do they?)

We play wide games

(and not so wide games)

We had a Quiz night

(or several

And we made ourselves useful, learning to deal with Emergencies.

(First aid and other stuff like that)

But most of all

We love Camping,

and go at least twice a year, read on for more.

Some of us also put on their 'Best Bib and Tucker' and whole load of other astonishing costumes as well and took to the stage for The ALL singing (nearly) ALL dancing spectacular of

The Christchurch Scout and Guide Gang Show.

Indeed, five of our Guides AND one of the Leaders starred in it, and those of us that saw it thought it was brilliant. (Some of them even got radio mics, and on one occasion, a personal follow spot- (Broadway here they come!);

In the meantime here is her Brittanic Majesty with a few of her subjects

Now for more about this camping thing.

Just like the song,

WE WENT TO FOXLEASE TO CAMP IN THE SUN

and it rained,

but not that much!!!!

and we still had

LOTS OF FUN;

we just had to wear our water proofs on Wednesday.

June is the beginning of our favourite season, when it's time to dig out the sun hat, dust of the waterproof and find both our wellies. Then we head of to the first camp of the season,

The (scary music interlude) PATROL PERMITS This year we have two brave Guides being tested;

(Whilst editing this I have been told that they passed, congratulation to them both - Webmaster)

and three more are making use of the permits they gained last year.
After then its a whole two months to wait (how will we cope with the excitement?) (How will we cope without seeing the Guides ? :~)- overworked guider) until summer camp in August, when we will be going away for a week to Foxlease.

Last year we had a brilliant time, the pictures are below, just push the buttons that our Guider designed

(and for once, none of the picture of are of yours truly doing something daft)

If we are lucky, we might be able to fit in another weekend camp later this year.

Then we only have to hold on until December, when it's Panto Season &;

We all descend on the Barn at Foxlease for out Annual Panto and Christmas Weekend;

We do seasonal stuff (lots of craft and indoorsy things) and walk in the winter forest (it's either really nice and frosty, or it tips down) We have Christmas Dinner on Saturday night and then on Sunday afternoon we put on a pantomime, which we rehearse when we aren't doing the above (which is most of the time actually). This year is our 10th Annual Panto. .... should be one to remember

( mind you there are a couple I'd like to forget, no parts mentioned, I was never the Mad Hatter or the Widow Twanky honest!!!!!)

So as you can see, it's a busy calendar for us, so how they ever get time to write a web site the Guides will never know .

Our Guides would love to hear from other Units so if you would like to contact us, click the Trefoil

Thank you for visiting our site we hope to keep it up to date with photos and stuff as it happens.

If you click on this trefoil, BEWARE.

You will be forced to see what happens to our guides when we eventually get..... I mean they leave us to become Rangers

P.S The 'Guider In Charge' would like the world to know that she is only the Webmaster, and that the actual contents of this page was written by her (very) Junior Assistant Assistant Guider (well you've got to do something with over enthusiastic youth)
